Happy Spring Equinox!

Spring is a season of awakening. A time of aliveness. Insects are hatching, birds are chirping, the ground is thawing, the sun bathes everything in a rejuvenating, energized light.

Here on the western slope of Colorado we still have a significant amount of snow on the ground and we won’t see an abundance of wildflowers for the next couple of months. However, you can smell the fertile earth in the gentle breeze, and you can feel the coming warmth in the suns growing intensity.

I was born in the spring maybe that’s why I love it so much, I get giddy over the first blades of grass and blossoming flowers. My inner child becomes vibrantly alive absolutely captivated by a season that we see each year yet never dimming the magnificence of the following rotation.  Pasque flowers (above) are some of the first growths we see here in Colorado but also in Delaware where I was raised. (Delawhere? But seriously, are you familiar?)

We actually have a cold front and possibly even snow storms headed our way later this week (Happy Spring, right?). The moisture is a welcomed and essential element especially with how dry it has been the last couple of months.

These floral captures are amongst my favorites. Most were taken July 2016 in the peak of their season.
