On our hike back from Colorado’s Iconic Crystal Mill we stopped for lunch at a waterfall just below what is called ‘Devil’s Punchbowl’ as seen in the photo below. The waters are emerald green, crystal clear, and roaring with intensity. Not only can you hear the power of the waterfall but you can feel it rattle the earth beneath and enliven the spirit within. It sits deep within a rigid, rocky canyon unforgiving to the inexperienced motorist or faint of heart. Adventures had brought us here many times but never with a lace dress.
Sunday Best in the Mountains
Why save something for a special occasion? Life is the occasion! The only time I’ve worn this dress has been on top of a mountain for our unconventional ceremonial summit and for lunch next to a waterfall. There’s something magical about wearing something so beautiful in a place so grand. It is one of my favorite and most sought-after feelings next to being stripped down to nothing but bare skin. Completely exposed to the elements, a natural state so often misconstrued.
Light & Lace
The sun had vanished beyond the canyon wall toning down the harshness of the afternoons light and allowing the contrast of soft lace (and water) against rough rock to be front and center. I would have liked to play in the water more but it was unkindly cold, the wind was wicked, and I had forgotten a towel. Sounds kind of lame but true nonetheless. Impromptu photo shoots are so fun with no time for things like hair and makeup unless you consider windblown and dusty a look, personally my favorite.

Such an amazing sight, and such a beautiful dress! I love the idea of wearing something so elegant out in the wildness. It seems to create and artist contrast, yet the dress fits right in at the same time. It reminds me a bit of Tuck Everlasting.
