Wearable Trends for Mountain Towns

Hi friends, I hope the holiday season has been treating you well. The chaos always seems to get amped up this time of year but I’m surviving the scramble!  A couple of weeks ago I set up a photo shoot for a local retail shop in an effort to boost their social media content as well as sales especially during the holiday hustle and bustle. If we’re connected on Instagram then you’ve probably caught a glimpse of the shoot already. I am an occasional buyer for the shop which has in the past meant traveling to trade shows, and I model for their website when needed. You can check out their website here!

Originally, I had planned to be the photographer and have a couple of employees model the newest threads however, schedules didn’t align and/or employees had no interest in playing model so I jumped in front of the camera with my husband, Alex, behind the lens.  As a contracted model for two years I longed for more control over the creative process. While I thoroughly enjoyed creating with other artists and photographers, many times I showed up for someone else’s vision. If you’re a fellow creative you can probably relate to the frustration when your ideas constantly have to take a backseat. After the contract was up I did only freelance work and began creating content for retail companies along the way. I love creating a scene, cultivating a feeling, and inspiring self-expression. And if I’m being completely honest I don’t think I will ever outgrow playing dress-up! With all that said, I hope you all enjoy our little look-book for a long-standing local business!

Purple Haze;

Are you familiar with small town, high altitude living? It’s typical to grab a pair of leggings and an oversized sweater or snow pants and a puffy coat before hitting town or the slopes but some of us long for a little more pep in our sassy step. With the unusually warm winter we’ve had, a bare leg has been tolerable but as the cooler temps move in, any of the looks below can be paired with leggings, opaque tights, sweaters, and coats to make them suitable for below freezing evenings.

Gingerbread Dreams;
Unfortunately, a couple of shots became blurred during the upload process but how authentic is this cabin? It resembles a real life gingerbread house!

Iconic Crested Butte;

This house and coffee shop covered in license plates is iconic to our little mountain town and is a real attention grabber. I wish I could give you the history behind the building and its design but I lack the knowledge of its background. It has been said that the license plates aided in keeping heat in and cold out during the winter season and beyond.
