Hi all! You may remember my original hand-rolled candle pursuit from a couple of years ago; Candles That Make A Difference. A generous amount of beeswax was given to me and I began hand-rolling candles and sending 100% of the proceeds to Marley’s Mutts, a rescue organization near and dear to my heart. The sales from the local community generated nearly $500.00 that winter, all of which was sent to Marley’s Mutts. You can read more about it here. After that I was out of fresh out of beeswax and the endeavor fizzled out. However, this fall more beeswax was sent my way. Sparing it from the landfill, I began rolling (rolling, rolling) candles again, gifting them to friends, family, and party guests. And now it has taken on a life of its very own. While the circumstances may have changed, the magic continues.

THE BACKSTORY

My mom’s life partner owns an estate sale business, and while estates are sold for a plethora of reasons, many are sold after death. His company buys items from estates with the intent of selling the merchandise at his shop. And because it is often in vulnerable times when these exchanges occur, he usually gets to know the family, and share in the memories of the passed loved one(s). So it was with the beeswax. This is what we know.  The husband and wife met in the air while she was working as a flight attendant and he as an active marine. Their sky high chemistry and frequent crossing of paths drove them to begin dating, later getting married. They both enjoyed riding his motorcycle throughout California as that is where he was stationed during that time. Tragically, the husband was involved in a motorbike accident leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and ultimately confined to a wheel chair. They both retired and relocated to Delaware where the wife began her candle business, hand-rolling beeswax candles for large scale, specialty events using the profits to pay for her husbands hefty medical bills.

In the midst of life altering trauma and grief, the creativity of candle making invoked a lightness of heart. It has also has become a resource for costs associated with our own unexpected yet miraculous accident that occurred this past winter. The wax had no interest at my families shop in DE so it became a project of my own making. Not only has it brightened my days, it has brightened my world. This light longs to be shared!

Honey, I’m hand-rolled!

These loyal light-bearers are happily hand-rolled and infused with lots of heart. Each set was rolled intentionally and purposefully and inspired by natural elements. Every candle is unique, varying ever so slightly from the next. They make for special gifts, beautiful table centerpieces, artful bottle drippings, or personalized party favors! There will also be limited edition sets available, like the New Moon Set found here.

All sets can be found in my online Shop and will continue to be updated until all wax is gone. Large scale, speciality or personalized orders are welcome and can be placed here. Mason Jar candles and sunshine shaped votives are in the works!
