A Letter To My Mom

A Letter to my Mom: We may not be together today Just land and miles keep us away Boy, I miss you extra during the month of May The love I feel for you is more than I can say And I know raising me alone made your hairs turn grey So many rules and guidances I simply refused to obey But you still loved me unconditionally and made me corn soufflé  You led by example you showed me the way You gifted me so much its a challenge to convey The love and gratitude I feel toward you  grows immeasurably everyday…

The Honey-Mooners Return

Well, we made it back from our grand adventure on the road! We actually returned last week but we haven’t had working internet hence my long-standing absence. That’s life in the mountains for you~ thank goodness for the ability to set up a hotspot from a cell phone! I returned with so much content, inspiration and motivation to share but quickly became frustrated since I couldn’t actually upload anything. A gentle reminder from the universe that I am not in control as much as I would like to think so and perhaps there’s a plan greater than my own. We drove through Colorado,…

A Taste Of The Sea

We have been on the road for nearly two weeks now. We have visited family, surfed in Santa Cruz, CA, hiked in the Mojave desert, and I even celebrated my 27th dance around the sun! We have been living the dream!  Styx, our traveling rescue dog, has really taken to this adventure quite well. There is so much goodness to be shared with you all in the coming weeks but for now I’ve included couple of captures of the Santa Cruz coastline. They had an increased amount of rain pass through so the landscapes were incredibly lush and full of…

Road Trippin’ in the USA

Hi there friends! My husband and I have started our Western Americana road trip which also happens to be our honeymoon! It has been nothing short of amazing thus far! Warm weather, palm trees, changing landscapes, and each other. We even brought our pup along for good measure.  I may not be able to share a whole lot while on the road but here are a few captures from the beginning of our travels.     Are you a fan of road trips? Whats your favorite roads to travel? I am so very grateful for all of the brilliant connections…

Predator and Prey

Springtime in, southwestern Colorado, shows some of its first signs through hungry wildlife. We see blue birds, fox that haven’t yet shed their thick winters coat, bear emerging from a long winters hibernation, hunting coyote and more. This beauty was just outside of our house guarding a half-eaten prairie dog. He was not amused by our dogs insistent barking nor was he deterred from enjoying his afternoon catch. He almost seemed to enjoy it more having an audience to parade his prey in front of.        ( Note: I am not actually sure of the coyotes gender ~ just…

Monday Motivation: Hiking Mountains at 55+

“You can do it!’, “I’m so proud of you!” I found myself saying over and over again as my mom, a sea-level native, took a step toward the summit of Cinnamon Mountain. My mom visited Colorado for the couple of weeks surrounding our wedding date. She had visited many times before but this time she had decided or, more like agreed, to hike a mountain. Hiking mountains is not necessarily an easy task for anyone but for someone not acclimated to altitude, who travelled from sea-level, and has never hiked a mountain let alone many trails, this was a rather large…
