My Golden Birthday And Decade of Freedom

Today is my birthday! Not only my birthday but my golden birthday! For those who aren’t familiar with golden birthdays (I wasn’t until last year when my mother in law informed me) it is when your age and the numerical date of your birthday match. So in my case I’m 28 on the 28th! Today is also much more significant to me than just my golden birthday, though I feel it’s very sychronistic that my golden birthday falls on the day I celebrate a decade of freedom. You see, I could be celebrating that I’ve been an adult for 10…

Spring Landscapes Crested Butte, Colorado

Happy week-ending my friends! I hope Spring has greeted you with sunshine and awakened excitement for brighter, longer days ahead. The end of March and start of April have been dismal and gloomy here on the western slope of Colorado. Overcast skies, full-bodied clouds, and the occasional sliver of Grandfather Sun- the daily outfit of our 2018 spring season. However, the blue birds have once again graced us with their ethereal presence, the prairie dogs can be seen frolicking throughout the sage brush, and the attractive scent of fertility is dispersed pleasantly throughout the valley. All the signs of Earth’s…

Happy Spring Rocky Mountain Wildflower Edition

Happy Spring treasured friends and fellow trailblazers! Spring may actually show its signs here (in the high country of Colorado) earlier than years before as we’ve had much less snow this winter season than any I’ve experienced in the past. Hopefully, the lack of snow does not negatively impact the remarkable display of summers wildflowers strewn annually throughout our beautiful, open valley. Fingers crossed, though I’ve never been disappointed by natures hand in artistry. In honor of my favorite season (summer and fall argue about being favorites themselves) I put together a collection of wildflower captures that emit the Spring-like…

Where’s The Snow, Colorado?

Happy 2018! All that hype and now we’re here! New Years can feel like standing in two states at the same time, don’t ya think? Now we’re two days passed the threshold but there’s no need to rush, we can resolve to be here now. Here on the western slope of Colorado we’ve had just two small snow storms this winter, an astonishing difference to the 350+ inches of snowfall we had last winter. No digging out windows or jumping off of roofs into pillowy snow piles. So with a snow storm, however heavy, brings much excitement to the townspeople…

Backdoor Sunset

While we’re still waiting for the snow to fly over our end of the western slope, the palette of the late evenings skies have been heart-stirring. Even the sunrises have been overwhelmingly moving and spine-tingling but gone within a moments notice. You may remember my post(s) from last winter Too Much of a Good Thing or Crested Butte Buried in the West Elks , how utterly shocking it was to be under 300+ inches of snow in a matter of weeks, even for a town that loves snow. This year is completely opposite and entirely shocking in its own right. Never have I witnessed…
