Happy Spring treasured friends and fellow trailblazers! Spring may actually show its signs here (in the high country of Colorado) earlier than years before as we’ve had much less snow this winter season than any I’ve experienced in the past. Hopefully, the lack of snow does not negatively impact the remarkable display of summers wildflowers strewn annually throughout our beautiful, open valley. Fingers crossed, though I’ve never been disappointed by natures hand in artistry. Predator and Prey

Springtime in, southwestern Colorado, shows some of its first signs through hungry wildlife. We see blue birds, fox that haven’t yet shed their thick winters coat, bear emerging from a long winters hibernation, hunting coyote and more. This beauty was just outside of our house guarding a half-eaten prairie dog. He was not amused by our dogs insistent barking nor was he deterred from enjoying his afternoon catch. Happy Spring Equinox!

Spring is a season of awakening. A time of aliveness. Insects are hatching, birds are chirping, the ground is thawing, the sun bathes everything in a rejuvenating, energized light. Here on the western slope of Colorado we still have a significant amount of snow on the ground and we won’t see an abundance of wildflowers for the next couple of months. However, you can smell the fertile earth in the gentle breeze, and you can feel the coming warmth in the suns growing intensity.
