Aquarius New Moon; We Breathe The Same Air

January 20th welcomed us into Aquarius season, the start of a new sun cycle, and a slightly different flavor than earth governed Capricorn. Capricorn lent us its lessons on labors of love and offered the opportunity to view hard work, discipline, and dedication as pathways to wisdom.

Capricorn can often feel a sense of satisfaction or sustainability from adhering to or following the status quo while Aquarius breaks away from the need to conform to succeed. Traditionally, Capricorn and Aquarius share Saturn as a co-ruler but since the discovery of Uranus in 1781, Aquarius adopted the newly seen modern planet as ruler.

So while the Aquarian energy can unfurl in eccentric, radical, (Uranus) rule breaking, or structured and more conventional expressions (Saturn), it is always with the focus of improving or advancing humanity. Aquarius is forward thinking, infused with electric foresight, and envisions the future through a wide lens of new possibilities.

With the Sun and moon aligned in Aquarius, drawing us into the dark sky of the new moon phase, we’re supported in allowing our individuality space within the collective.

• Do we allow ourselves the freedom to be who we are, to share our ideals even and especially when they don’t exactly fit in?

• Or do we shrink and camouflage that which makes us unique? 

• Do we allow others the space to contribute their individuality even if it opposes or conflicts with our own?

Aquarius is commonly confused as a water sign, stemming from its identity as the water bearer, however Aquarius is ruled by the air element. Both of our luminaries or light bearers mingling in the air of Aquarius invites us to accept our vast differences, embrace them as contributions to the collective, dance to the beat of our own drum, and respect the rhythm of others.

Despite our differences, we all breathe the same air. We can water our humanity by taking a deep breath. We don’t know what the future holds for certain but we can come together and revolutionize the way it unfolds.
